Blue Pine Designs - Rustic Elegance

Dan Coker and I had a 1-to-1 meeting on Wednesday. Dan owns Blue Pine Designs. We shared each other's business to understand what we do and who our customers are.

I was so very impressed with Dan. No only is he a craftsman, he is an artist. I think there is a perception that pine wood is the "country cousin" to more exotic woods. Not true! Dan has an eye for the beauty that lies beneath the weathered outer layers of a piece of pine. He can see the potential of a piece of pine that we would consider for our fireplace. Dan uses the "imperfections" in a piece of wood - knots, striations, the weaving of colors - to make a piece of furniture or trim elegant. He knows when he cuts into a new piece of wood that it will have a story to tell. Often he lets the wood's character dictate the finished piece. Dan then finishes each creation with a high gloss polyurethane wood finish product imported from Italy. Stunning!

Dan's customers are home owners and RV, horse trailer and motor home owners. Take a peek at his gorgeous designs below.

Supervised Fuels = Super Oversight

Great presentation today by Kathy Temple, Fleet Fueling Consultant with Supervised Fuels. Unless we've personally been involved in managing fleets, it's difficult to imagine the problems businesses face. Here are examples Kathy gave:

Employee Abuse

  • Purchasing premium when they should only purchase regular unleaded
  • Taking fuel for personal use (theft)
  • Buying non-fuel items such as food, gloves, lottery tickets, beer

Employee Inefficiencies

  • Wasting time in long lines (e.g., a certain grocery store on Hwy 97)
  • Going inside the store to pay, but shopping for snacks (adds avg 10 minutes to fueling)

Lost Productivity

  • Wasted time in the fueling process keeps employees away from being on the job producing company profit

Rising Cost of Fuel

  • 'Nough said (UGH!)

Supervised Fuels solves these problems. Businesses directly benefit from:

  • Reduced/Eliminated Employee Abuse
  • Increased Employee Efficiencies
  • Increased Productivity
  • Participating in A Wholesale Purchasing Program!
